Project Manager
Reports to: Chief Project Officer (line manager)
Manages: Technical/ Engineering Manager and a team of Project Engineers, Contracts Manager, Project Controls Assistant, Document Controls Assistant
Works closely with: Project Development Executive, HSEQ officer, Site representatives, Construction Manager
As a Project Manager at Perpetual Next, you are responsible for coordinating, executing and delivering capital projects within a set budget and timeline. The project scope, budget and timeline are determined in close collaboration with the Project Development Executive during the project development phase.
Perpetual Next is looking for a Project Manager with a strong technical background and a proactive mindset, who pushes the project along even before anyone else has noticed a potential for delay. Someone who get inspired by working in the dynamic environment that is typical for developing a first of a kind capital project. The successful candidate would need to have the flexibility to take on tasks beyond that of typical project management, like involvement in financial structuring, attracting subsidies and strategic project partners.
Tasks and responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be involved in the execution of the following activities.
Coordination and implementation:
- Involvement in the project development phase, in particular for determining the project scope, budget, timeline and risk matrix.
- Determine the project execution strategy and execute the project accordingly
- Building a strong project team, who are capable of executing the project in line with the defined strategy
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.
- With the assistance of a Document Controller: keeping track of project deliverables, document numbering, revision management, etc.
- Communicate with stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Budget management:
- Setting the project budget (in consultation with the Project Development Executive)
- Ensuring efficient use of resources and monitoring budget.
- Management of change
- Conduct periodic reviews of scope, schedule, and costs.
- With the assistance of a Project Controller: keeping track of outstanding purchase orders and invoices in relation to project budget, periodic progress and budget reports to the MT
- Assessing and mitigating risks. Maintaining the risk matrix, responsible for the allocation of the contingency budget.
Relationship management:
- Communicate professionally and transparently to build trust with customers and stakeholders.
- Maintain relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Managing the technical team under the leadership of the Technical/ Engineering manager, whereby possibly part of the engineering is outsourced to an Engineering Contractor.
- Managing the subcontractors (in the engineering phase) via the Contracts Manager.
- Responsible for the selection of (equipment or package) suppliers, after thorough technical and commercial evaluation by the project team, under the coordination of the Contracts Manager
Technology Usage:
Leveraging project management and reporting tools
Education:
- A completed higher technical education (MSc) e.g. chemical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of project management experience in the chemical, petrochemical or oil & gas industry, preferably in an engineering company.
- Able to understand complex capital projects, assess risks, and make strategic decisions
