Joint venture between Perpetual Next and Gasunie

November 19, 2021

Perpetual Next and Gasunie, the public company responsible for the transport of Dutch gas, have reached an outline agreement to form a 50/50 joint venture to further develop the 'Torrgas' project in Delfzijl, Groningen. Among other things, Perpetual Next will supply its sustainable Perpetual Carbon and deploy its patented torrefaction technology.

Together with Gasunie, Perpetual Next will play an important role in the construction phase of the project. The main objective of the project is to supply green gas to the natural gas network and steam to the local steam network, but there is also the possibility to produce green hydrogen.

Torrefaction technology
Perpetual Next will take on the management and operational responsibility of the plant. The company Torrgas will license its gasification technology and will fully focus on its further development and optimisation for this project.

SDE+ subsidy
An SDE+ subsidy has been granted for the project by the Dutch government (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland - RVO).
