The heat plant Primco Lelystad and the company The Green Solution have signed a heat supply agreement. With the hot water produced by Primco, The Green Solution supplies among other things weed killers.
Fighting weeds with hot water is by far the most environmentally friendly and effective solution at this moment. No harmful chemicals are released into the soil and burning away - which causes odour nuisance, more risk of fire and emissions - is a thing of the past. Because of circularity, the aim is to use only groundwater.
Sustainable future
Primco Lelystad and The Green Solution are companies that stand for a sustainable future and anticipate the circular economy. Primco supplies heat in Lelystad to the heat network that heats 5,500 homes and a number of companies. The power plant already has a high energy efficiency of 97%. By supplying residual heat to The Green Solution, this efficiency increases even further.
The Green Solution supplies hot water to companies that specialise in large-scale weed control in municipalities, for example, but also for cleaning tank trailers, solar panels and production equipment in the food chain.
High environmental targets
Rene Buwalda, CEO of Primco: "At the first contact with Piet Binkhorst and Jerry Pols of The Green Solution we were soon in line. We both have the same focus on sustainable business. Within five minutes I therefore said yes to a pilot in Lelystad and all summer long weeds have been controlled in this way as far away as Amsterdam." Piet Binkhorst of The Green Solution, like Buwalda, has high environmental targets and adds, "My motto is: keep it simple. You can often achieve good, environmentally friendly solutions with simple ideas."
Primco has, and is developing, several plants in the Netherlands and so there are concrete plans for the future to soon offer hot water in an even larger area for the customers of The Green Solution.
