Biochar kan worden gebruikt als additief voor de volgende sectoren:
Carbon removal met biochar in de bouwindustrie
Biochar bestaat voor 75-90% uit pure en stabiele koolstof. Met een eenvoudige moleculaire analyse kan de stabiliteit van biochar worden bepaald en zo kan het carbon sink potentieel worden berekend. Naast de directe carbon sink heeft biochar ook uitstekende isolerende eigenschappen en biedt het bescherming tegen elektromagnetische straling en reductie voor elektrostatische oplading.
Perpetual Carbon Biochar ADDCQUEST is een ideaal product voor toepassing in de bouw. Het product heeft uitstekende isolerende eigenschappen, verbetert de luchtkwaliteit, neemt vocht op en beschermt tegen straling.
Biochar kan ook worden gebruikt als pigmentatiemiddel voor beton of andere bouwtoevoegingen zoals mortel, gips en bakstenen. Hiermee kunnen bouwmaterialen langdurig koolstof opslaan die anders in onze atmosfeer terecht zou komen.

Van organische residuen naar biocoal
In Vägari, Estland, is sinds 2020 een biocoal plant in aanbouw op basis van de C-Vertr V technologie van Perpetual Next. In de plant zullen in totaal acht tot tien reactoren worden geïnstalleerd die 120 kiloton biocoal per jaar kunnen produceren.
Van organische residuen, B-hout & SRF naar biocoal
In Dilsen-Stokkem, België, is sinds 2010 een biocoal plant op basis van de C-Vertr R-technologie van Perpetual Next in bedrijf. Deze site heeft een nameplate capacity van 27.700 ton biocoal per jaar.
